Abstract

O artigo discute o conceito de competência pedagógica em cursos de formação docente voltados à preparação de professores para atuarem em sociedades multiculturais. Sintetiza as principais abordagens teóricas sobre o tema, compara literatura em duas sociedades multiculturais (Brasil e Reino Unido), com relação à relevância da perspectiva intercultural crítica na tentativa de superação da desigualdade educacional, e analisa os dados de campo provenientes de um estudo de caso empreendido em uma instituição superior de formação de professores, supostamente engajada na perspectiva assinalada. O potencial e as limitações para o desenvolvimento de uma competência pedagógica na perspectiva intercultural crítica são discutidos à luz dos dados obtidos.
